More and more people go for solar lights in adjustments of home decor and landscaping projects. Why? It was not long ago that people required outdoor lighting for security purposes. However, as of this decade, the focus has shifted towards outdoor garden d cor by using outdoor lights, as the means to achieve it. Of course, although everyone likes to maintain a beautiful yard, it may become quite expensive if a lot of investments have to be made on the electricity bill at the end of the day. Due to this reason, scientists saw the opportunity in developing solar post lights.
Traditional lights and solar post lights give off different lighting effects. On the other hand, solar post lights are cost effective and can withstand harsh weather conditions as well. Plus, solar post lights can be bought in different sizes and shapes and even colors. What else can you possibly ask for? These DIY essentials need no wiring or any hassle of that sort. The only limitation of solar post lights is that it needs to be charged during the day if it is to illuminate at night. In some solar post lights you will find the charger as a separate component whereas in other types, the solar cells are integrated.
Whatever said and done, solar post lights are easier for use than traditional garden lights. Most solar post lights that are specially meant for gardens come with a cap to give off pretty visual effects that adds glory to your garden.
Many people hate the initial cost that comes with solar post lights however, you reap results while you use it overtime. Plus, solar post lights usually come ith a warranty and does not consume electricity as harshly as traditional lights do.
Therefore, you need to be careful when you select the solar post light that you buy. Always make sure that the product is high in quality. Cheaper solar post lights are most likely cheap in quality too. Therefore, settle for something that comes with a good warranty. That way, you will be gaining a security for that initial investment you make on the solar post lights.
On a last note, make sure you choose the solar post lights as per your taste. It may be difficult to match your taste at one go, so keep searching for those beautiful solar pole lights everywhere you go, especially online.

What is a Window Herb Garden
Growing your own window herb garden can be fun, rewarding and it can save you a lot of money. Most Chef’s will admit that one of the most costly ingredients on any menu are the herbs. You may only use a pinch of this and a dash of that but initially you have to buy a whole container which is not cheap.
That’s why many people choose to grow their own herbs. And not all of us have that large garden plot to grow our herbs, so many of us resort to window boxes, window sills or containers. For more informantion on Herbs and herb gardening visit Windowsill Herbs
Window herb gardens require only a pot to put the herbs in, of course the seeds, some fertilizer or just plain dirt, some water and a lot of love and attention. Herbs aren’t very difficult to grow. Provided they are not neglected too often, watered when they appear a little dry and given lots of sunshine in a bright window, you will find that they flourish quite easily without much effort.
They Add Color
The best part about having a window herb garden, except for the fact that you’ll have a healthy supply of herbs for all your cooking needs, is that you will add color to your windows. Lush greens, whites and yellows and other beautiful colors is what will flourish when you start to grow your own herbs in a window herb garden. First, however, you actually have to grow them! Growing plants is hard when the weather is against you and owning a greenhouse is great for the serious gardening enthusiast. With the addition of a greenhouse you can gives you a controlable micro climate to grow your plants and vegetables.
There are a lot of vegetables and flowers that can be grown inside a greenhouse when they would not grow outside due to weather and climate conditions. As a responsible greenhouse owner everything you grow in it will be totally dependent on your care and any failure to water them will damage their chances of growth.
The greenhouse gives you the advantage over outfdoor growing because you are in control of the growing conditions but this also means plants depend on your care. For many people the pleasure they get from greenhouse gardening is down to the satisfaction of having complete control and if things go well or go badly you must accept the praise or the blame.
When you own a greenhouse there are many flowers and vegetables you can grow and you can started them from seeds and grow them to maturity and you can take full credit for your achievement. We think of greenhouses as being one shape but there are several types but the first step is to decide on agetting a greenhouse if you want to grow plants that could not grow outside locally.
The majority of greenhouses are well built and rugged so they should be with you for years and for the money give you a great deal of pleasure or you can build a cheap greenhouse and replace it later. The geodesic dome shape greenhouse is my top favorite design partly because they look so stylish but also because they allow a lot of light into the greenhouse while giving you more groundspace to grow plants.
The more common type of greenhouse is the rectangular shape and these may be all glass or have a low wall at the bottom of the sides. The alignment of oblong greenhouses will usually be set to get the most light and warmth from the sun though sometimes you will have too much sun so local conditions must decide.
In general you want maximum light to enter your greenhouse but you need to be aware that stong sunlight may damage plants in some conditions so you should get local advice on greenhouse positioning in your area. Glass is not always used for greenhouses and the development of clear plastic materials offers some choices which are cheaper and less subject to breakage.
The traditional way to build a greenhouse can mean it lasts for decades and the cheaper alternatives may not be around so long but they are a great alternative to get started with greenhouse gardening.

Hydroponics is another way of gardening and of cultivating plants. Even after several years the pollutants that are found in soil in which we are exposed do not go away. Because plants are in mediums that can carry factors which can contribute to the ill health of people researchers have looked for ways to minimize plant exposure to these mediums. In hydroponics soil is not the medium used for planting plants.
Soil Is Not Important
In hydroponic gardening, researchers have found out that soil is actually just a reservoir where nutrients are stored for the plant’s consumption. The plants food is stored in the reservoir. Therefore if the plant can get the nutrients it needs some other way, the reservoir is not essential. The nutrients found in soil dissolve in water to allow the plants to absorb them easier is what hydroponic research has found out. Some plants don’t need soil with hydroponics.
When plants receive the proper nutrients that are essential to their growth then even plants that are normally found in soil, called terrestrial plants, are able to survive without being in soil. Hydroponics also has some medium that may be more suitable for a healthy human life. These mediums include gravel, mineral wool, and perlite. These are just there to provide the roots something to hold on to for stability.
In hydroponics the mineral solution is the important factor that fills the plants’ nutritional need. As long as the nutrient based solution is given then nearly all plants can grow without soil. The growing plant is given a solution that is formulated to meet the needs of the plant and help it thrive but the solution is given in doses. Being exposed to water all the time is not tolerated by all plants so nutitional solutions
for hydroponic gardening are given in intervals.
Hydroponics has certain advantages such as cultivation in a clean environment with the fuss and mess of soil. Another advantage of hydroponics is the absence of many soil borne disease that target plants and produce. Hydroponics also opens the possibility to cultivate plants in places that are barren such as the desert. Greenhouses can be made to provide better crops that have nutrients provided to them directly without soil since most plants do not need soil to grow.

A growing number of individuals find the reasonably priced and easy assembly of portable garden greenhouses to be appealing. Regardless of whether building a starter greenhouse or buying one pre-assembled is in your plans, it is important either way to make sure you take into account your available space and how much cash you have to spend. These things may help in the greenhouse decision-making process. Heating and ventilation needs and water supply have to also be taken into consideration. After you do this preliminary planning, you can then decide the type of greenhouse that will fit your needs.
You have to then choose whether you want an attached or unattached greenhouse. You’ll be able to walk straight into an attached greenhouse, while a separate one will require you to go outside. Another option is an indoor greenhouse, which is perfect if you don’t have a lot of available space outdoors, or your region experiences very cold winters.
The classic barn style greenhouse is the most popular style, although there are quite a few others out there. Pre-fabricated greenhouses are a great choice that quite a few individuals opt for, as they are quick to set up and let you get gardening right away. However if you’re truly serious about getting into greenhouse gardening you must put some thought into making a permanent greenhouse structure. There are many alternatives available to the costly glass greenhouses you see on TV and in advertising. You will find that most of the pre-fabricated greenhouses are constructed of an aluminum frame and polycarbonate panels.
Building the biggest greenhouse you can afford and that will fit into the space you have available is the recommendation of those who love to garden in their greenhouse. In the long run, it will be more expensive to add on to a smaller sized greenhouse, than to just purchase a larger one in the first place. Many individuals think it is unnecessary to have a large greenhouse, because they cannot imagine how they’re ever going to fill it up. However once people begin gardening, they’re likely to start growing so many plants that they won’t have room for them all.
Selecting plants that you’re familiar with can be an important decision to make when creating a garden greenhouse. You’ll be wasting your time if you are not committed to caring for the plants. Also, you must ask about permits and licensing requirements; this way you will be worry free and you can spend your time enjoying your gardening.

It is well known that gardening enthusiasts need a heat source for their greenhouse in order to extend the growing season or grow plants all year. Who wouldn’t want to be growing plants in a greenhouse all year long!Electric greenhouse heaters are favored and preferred by many greenhouse gardeners over paraffin heaters.
It is extremely convenient and easy to use electric heaters. If you wish to maintain the temperature, you will need thermostatic controls to do so and the heater will then do its job. Many greenhouse gardeners will buy a complete heat/AC system so their greenhouse will be temperature controlled in the winter and in the summer, providing the ultimate year round environment. Since you have taken the time to build your own greenhouse, it only makes sense to enjoy it year round.
Factors to Consider when Choosing an Electric Greenhouse Heater
When choosing an electric greenhouse heater it is best to select one that not only has a fan, but a variable speed fan with an option that allows for blowing non-heated air. Blowing unheated air allows the gardener to simply circulate and refresh the air in the greenhouse. It is important that your heater includes a fan so you can minimize cold spots and avoid fungus problems due to air that is stale.
A larger greenhouse will require more heating capacity for the electric greenhouse heater. Be sure the heater you select is appropriately sized, too small a heater for the size of the greenhouse can result in a heater that runs continually, potentially overheating and causing a fire. A 2,000-3,000 watt electric greenhouse heater is a good size for most home greenhouses, since it is neither too small to adequately heat nor so large the greenhouse plants can be possibly damaged.
Electric greenhouse heaters may be permanently installed or there are portable models that may be removed from the greenhouse when not in use. Don’t have a power source near by? Learn about gas greenhouse heaters.
Make sure the style of electric greenhouse heater you choose is designed for greenhouse use in order to avoid any water versus electricity issues.

Roses are surprisingly easy plants to grow and ones that will supply your home with beautiful vases full of colorfull blooms. There are so many varieties to choose from. You only need to remember three things to achieve successful rose bush caring. First, is rose bush choice, second, is how much water and fertilizer, and finally, apprpriate pruning. I would suggest getting a guide such as The Ultimate Book of Roses. It has beautiful pictures on the different rose varieties and how to care for them.
The type of rose bush you select is of utmost importance. You want to choose a rose bush that will do well in your climate zone and in your yard in particular. Some types can be problematic due to their tendancy towards disease and fungus. On the other hand their are certain roses that can withstand a bit of abuse so to speak. If you are just staking out a rose garden make sure they are well spaced for maximum growth potential. Pick an area for them where they will recieve at least 5 hours of sun a day.
A main consideration is watering and feeding for taking care of your roses. An early morning soaking at the root base is the best prescription for ultimate bloom potential. When a rose bush has just been planted it is advisable to water it everyday for the first two weeks. After two weeks watering once a week is fine unless you live in a very hot climate. Mulch, bark or straw can be placed around the roses bushes to keep the soil moist and discourage weed growth.
Feeding or fertilizing should be done about once a month particularly in the Spring, Summer and Fall. Find a good rose food at your local nursery with which to feed your roses. It is not recommended to feed or fertilize during the cold winter months.
For the best rose bush care proper pruning is vital. You only need to trim them when it is necessary such as when there are dead flowers or branches. To boost growth and blooms, count up from the branch three nodes (the small reddish growth lines) and cut there. Prune back your plants in January or February to promote maximum spring growth.
For more detailed information The Ultimate Book of Roses guide will definitely answer all your questions.
